Two-time Grand Slam singles champion Yevgeny Kafelnikov said Daniil’s defeat Medvedev in the quarter-finals of the US Open against Italian Jannik Sinner was logical.
Medvedev, seeded fifth in the tournament, lost to world number one Sinner of Italy with a score of 2:6, 6:1, 1:6, 4:6. The match lasted 2 hours 39 minutes.
“I don’t know how this defeat can affect Daniil. For me it makes sense that Sinner left. Even if Dani had chances. I think all the fans are upset about Medvedev’s defeat,” Kafelnikov said, as quoted by Championship.
Sinner will face Britain’s Jack Draper to reach the US Open final.
