Athletistic/Tennis. Tennis player Andrey Rublev performed well at the US Open, but his problem is that he often does not feel the edge of fatigue and plays overtrained. To progress further, he will have to make some changes in his preparation, said the President of the Russian Tennis Federation (RFF) Shamil Tarpishchev, who shared his opinion with RIA Novosti.

Sixth seed Rublev lost in the round of 16 to Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov 3:6, 6:7 (3:7), 6:1, 6:3, 3:6. In one episode, in anger over a mistake, Andrei hit his leg and then the strings of his racket, causing his hand to bleed.

“I feel sorry for Rublev, because during the tournament he was lucky to reach the final. In terms of the quality of play, Andrey is doing very well, but he needs to make some minor methodological changes. He plays practically in the context of overtraining, which leads to emotional overwork combined with fatigue of the nervous system. He does not realize that he has overworked and needs to take a break, but continues to train. He must be stopped in time,” Tarpishchev noted.

“I remember that when Andrei successfully participated in the Davis Cup, he often had to be stopped in training. The same situation happened with Elena Bovina, who also did not feel tired and could train around the clock. We must pay tribute to Rublev: despite his fatigue, he continues to work and fight. He is already mature enough to overcome the quarterfinal barrier, which he has not yet managed to overcome. Now it is important to methodologically adjust his preparation,” added the head of the FTR.

Andrey Rublev is 26 years old, he is the Olympic champion in mixed doubles at the Tokyo Games. Rublev’s best result at Grand Slam tournaments, including the US Open, was reaching the quarterfinals.
