Russian Alina Korneeva beat the representative of Poland Martin Cup in the first round of qualifying for the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) tournament in the Tunisian city of Monastir.
The match lasted 2 hours 16 minutes and ended with a score of 6:4, 4:6, 6:2 in favour of the 17-year-old Russian. In the qualifying final, she will meet the winner of the match between her compatriot Maria Timofeeva and Italian Camilla Rosatello.
In April, Korneeva announced that she had successfully undergone hand surgery in Barcelona. She held her last tournament in February this year in Mumbai. The tennis player is ranked 233rd in the world rankings. Korneeva is a two-time junior Grand Slam champion.
