Yannick became the first Italian in history to win the US Open men’s singles title
World No. 1 Jannik Sinner beat in three sets Taylor Fritz and became the winner of the men’s singles US Open 2024.
The final match lasted 2 hours and 17 minutes. The opening set began with a break by Sinner, but Fritz soon made amends by taking Jannik’s serve. However, the final part of the game was still in the Italian’s hands, who made two more breaks (6:3).
The second set was very even. Both opponents played well on their serves – not once did it come to break points, but in the tenth game Fritz gave up his serve, losing 4:6.
The third set saw a small hint of intrigue. In the middle, Fritz managed to take the lead with a break, but Sinner immediately stepped up and broke the American’s serve twice. As a result, Jannik won fairly, which brought him the second Grand Slam title in his career (Sinner won the 2024 Australian Open in January).
Let us recall that the “neutral” Aryna Sabalenka won the women’s singles at the 2024 US Open, and the Ukrainian Lyudmyla Kichenok triumphed in the women’s doubles paired with the Latvian Jelena Ostapenko.
