Athletistic / Tennis. The world’s number one tennis player, Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner, has spoken about the impact of the doping scandal on his performance at the 2024 US Open. Last night, Sinner became the winner of the US Open tennis championship for the first time in his career.

“It’s hard to describe everything, because my team and my loved ones know what I’ve been through in the last few months. It wasn’t a week before the US Open – it took months. As I said earlier, I always try to close myself off from people and understand what happened, and only then try to accept an event in some way.

When work starts, I try to have fun. Of course, during that period, at some points, it was very difficult for me to have fun. I used to behave differently at some tournaments than I do now, so those who know me better know that something was wrong with me.

However, during the US Open, I gradually started to feel a little better. Now, it doesn’t matter what the result is. So playing in New York definitely helped me a little. Now it’s good to have a few days off, rest a little, and then go to tournaments in China,” Sinner was quoted as saying by the US Open press service.

Jannik Sinner won the Masters Series tournament in Cincinnati (USA) on August 19, claiming his fifth title in 2024. Previously, the Italian had won the Australian Open, the ATP-500 tournaments in Rotterdam and Hall, as well as the Masters in Miami. The 23-year-old Italian now has 16 titles in his career.
