Together with Elena Ostapenko, the Ukrainian triumphed at the 2024 US Open
Ukrainian tennis player Ludmila Kichenok rose to fifth place V WTA doubles ranking.
Lyudmila managed to update the national record. It should be noted that Kichenok climbed 12 lines.
On September 6, in the final of the women’s doubles at the American major, Lyudmila and Jelena Ostapenko defeated the French-Chinese tandem Kristina Mladenovic / Zhang Shuai in two sets.
The total prize money for winning was $750,000. Thus, Ludmila and her partner Ostapenko from Latvia will receive $375,000 each.
This was the first Grand Slam title for Kichenok and Ostapenko together. In 2024, they won doubles tournaments in Brisbane and Eastbourne, and also reached the final of the Australian Open, where they lost to Xie Shuwei and Elise Mertens.
Liudmyla became the first Ukrainian to win two Grand Slam titles. In 2023, she became the Wimbledon mixed doubles champion together with Croatian Mate Pavic.
