The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has not received the appeal of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) against the decision of the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) in the case of the Italian world number one. Jannik the fisherman reports Corriere della Sera with reference to CAS.
The ITIA reported on August 20 that Sinner had tested positive for doping in two tests in March. The athlete avoided disqualification because he proved that the banned substance, clostebol, had entered his system accidentally. A number of stakeholders have publicly criticized the ITIA for its inconsistency in handling similar cases.
The 21-day deadline to appeal the ITIA decision expired on Tuesday.
Sinner has won the Australian Open and US Open this season, as well as tournaments in Rotterdam, Miami, Hull and Cincinnati. The 23-year-old Italian has been at the top of the ATP rankings since June.
