The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has requested further information on the case of the world’s first racket Jannik the fisherman .
Earlier, it was reported that the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) had not received WADA’s appeal against the decision of the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA).
The ITIA reported on August 20 that Sinner had tested positive for doping in two tests in March. The athlete avoided disqualification because he proved that the banned substance, clostebol, had entered his system accidentally.
“WADA is still reviewing the documentation received from ITIA regarding Sinner’s case to decide whether to appeal. The deadline (for appealing) expires 21 days from the receipt of the documents received last week,” WADA press secretary James Fitzgerald is quoted as saying in Corriere della Sera.
Sinner has won the Australian Open and US Open this season, as well as tournaments in Rotterdam, Miami, Hull and Cincinnati. The 23-year-old Italian has been at the top of the ATP rankings since June.
