Russian tennis player Daniil Savelyev has been temporarily suspended from competition for an anti-doping rule violation, according to the official website of the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA).
On August 20, 2024, the athlete was informed that the Russian’s doping test conducted on July 3 at a tournament in South Africa had shown a positive result for meldonium. Savelyev was unable to give permission to use the substance.
The tennis player had the right to appeal the suspension, but decided not to appeal. The 23-year-old tennis player is prohibited from playing, coaching or attending any ITIA-sanctioned tennis event.
Savelyev is 23 years old. The athlete reached his highest position in the world ranking (1486th) in August 2022 in doubles.
