Athletistic / Tennis. The world’s number one tennis player, Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek, has refused to participate in the WTA-500 tournament in Seoul. The competition in the South Korean capital will be held from September 16 to 22.
It is worth noting that Swiatek withdrew from the Seoul tournament following Kazakh tennis player Elena Rybakina, as well as Americans Jessica Pegula and Emma Navarro.
It is worth noting that after many refusals, the first seed of the competition will be Russian Daria Kasatkina (13th world racket). Four other Russian tennis players will participate in the tournament in South Korea – Lyudmila Samsonova, Diana Schneider, Ekaterina Alexandrova and Veronika Kudermetova.
It is worth noting that in 2023, Jessica Pegula celebrated her victory in Seoul, defeating China’s Yuan Yue in the final. Interestingly, these competitions were previously ranked WTA-250, but in 2024 their category was upgraded to WTA-500.
