At the start of the competition, the Ukrainian tennis player beat Arantxa Rus
Ukraine’s first racket Marta Kostyuk commented on the victory over Arancha Rus in the first round of the tournament WTA 500 V Seoul (South Korea).
“The conditions were tough today: very humid and very dark. I didn’t train here in the evening, so it was a bit strange. My opponent, Arantxa Rus, is a great player and an incredible fighter. I was prepared for it to be a real fight. My goal was to play aggressively, use my arsenal, so I’m happy it worked out.”
“What are my goals for this tournament? I am here to win. The support was great today, I thank the spectators. I did not even expect this. This is my first performance in Seoul and I like both the support and the competition itself. I hope I can go all the way in the tournament.”
At the tournament in Seoul, Marta received the fifth seeding. In the second round, the Ukrainian will meet Heather Watson from Great Britain.
