Novak Djokovic’s uncle takes over as president of Serbian Tennis Association

Goran Djokovic, uncle of 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic, has taken over as president of the Tennis Association of Serbia (TSS) and chairman of the TSS board of directors, according to the organization’s official website.

Previously, Mirko Petrovic served as head of TSS for nine years.

— I would like to thank everyone for the elections. My experience in tennis is mainly with Novak, but I also played tournaments for seven years. My goal is to correct what we started to do. The basis of everything is finance. I would like to thank former president Mirko Petrovic and, of course, Serbian president Aleksandar Vučić, who helped us solve a big financial problem.

“We don’t have our own premises, we don’t have a national training center and I want us to solve this problem. This is the wish of all the players and us, and I wouldn’t even run for this position if we didn’t have the support of the president of the country,” Goran Djokovic said.

Novak Djokovic is the record holder for the most weeks spent at the top of the ATP rankings, winning the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
