Representative of the European team, Spanish Carlos Alcaraz defeated World Team representative Taylor Fritz of the United States in the deciding match of the Laver Cup.
Tennis players spent 1 hour 31 minutes on the court, the Spaniard defeated his opponent in two sets – 6:2, 7:5. This result allowed the European team to win the final victory of the tournament with a score of 13:11.
Russians also played for Alcaraz team Daniel Medvedev Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, German Alexander Zverev, Norwegian Kasper Ruud and Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas. The victory was the European team’s first since 2021 and the fifth in history.
The Laver Cup has been held since 2017 and is named after Australian Rod Laver, an 11-time Grand Slam singles champion. This year, the tournament was held in Berlin.
