Ukrainian woman recovering from leg surgery
Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina spoke about recovery after leg surgery.
“I have an injury that I received a year ago. An operation was planned, and now I have returned to recover here in Ukraine.”
“I have to be in this boot for another month, that is, I can’t put any weight on my foot at all. Then I’ll do special exercises for another month and then I can return to the court.”
Elina underwent surgery in mid-September. The Ukrainian reported that surgical intervention was supposed to correct the problem, due to which the tennis player ended the 20203 season early.
During 2024, Svitolina did not win a single title. In total, she played 48 matches, in which she won 30 victories. Reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon, and at two more majors (Australian Open and Roland Garros) finished in the fourth round (1/8 finals).
In June, Elina lost her status as the first racket of Ukraine for the first time in a long time – she was surpassed in the ranking by Marta Kostyuk. Svitolina, who turned 30 on September 12, ends the season in 28th position in the WTA rankings.
