‘Playing well is not enough to beat Alcaraz’ – Selivanenko on Medvedev’s defeat

The vice-president of the Russian Tennis Federation, Alexei Selivanenko, believes that the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz beat the Russian Daniil Medvedev in the semi-final of the Beijing tournament thanks to a faster and more active game.

On Tuesday, Medvedev lost to Spaniard Alcaraz in the semifinals of the ATP 500 tournament in the Chinese capital with a score of 5:7, 3:6.

— Daniil himself rated today’s match – he played well, but that’s the case when playing well is not enough to beat your opponent. Alcaraz was faster and more active than Medvedev, increasing the pace won important goals and forced him to take risks and make mistakes. It was a match where it was Carlos who won and not Daniil who lost,” Selivanenko said at the Championship.

In the final of the competition, Alcaraz will meet the world number one, the Italian Jannik Sinner.
