Russian tennis player Anastasia Potapova talked about connecting with other athletes on the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) tour.
This season, 21-year-old Potapova won her first WTA title in April of her career. In August, she entered the top 50 of the world rankings for the first time, moving up to the 48th row.
– I am mostly friends with Yana Sizikova. We have always had a close relationship. We have known each other for more than five years. We got along from day one. Good relationship with (Canadian) Bianca Andreescu. Tennis players who want to be at the top cannot be friends with someone who wants it too, who works for it the same way, who has one goal – a winner. Not two or three. Therefore, it is difficult to maintain a kind of close friendship with competitors. Of course, some girls have their own rasps, intrigues, scandals, investigations on tour. The athlete also spoke about the dark stories of the tour.
