The Ukrainian was unable to build on her success after excellent performances at the tournament in Beijing
Ukrainian tennis player Yulia Starodubtseva lost to the representative of Hungary Anne Bondar in the final qualifying tournament WTA 1000 V Wuhan (China).
The match lasted exactly 2 hours. The first set was tense and fairly even. With the score 5:5, Bondar was able to make a break and get as close as possible to winning the game, but Starodubtseva took her opponent’s next serve and the audience still saw a tiebreaker. Yulia lost it, managing to make only one mini-break against Bondar’s two.
The second set also brought a lot of fight on the court. With the score 3:5, the Ukrainian did not allow her opponent to serve for the match, making a break, but subsequently lost her serve to zero and allowed Bondar to break into the main draw of the tournament in Wuhan. Another Ukrainian tennis player, Lesya Tsurenko, has already secured a place in it, having won today in the qualifying final against “neutral” Erika Andreeva.
Let us remind you that Yulia Starodubtseva completed her performance at the WTA 1000 tournament in Beijing this week. There she reached the quarter finals, losing to world number six Coco Gauff. Thanks to her performance in Beijing, the Ukrainian guaranteed herself a debut in the top hundred of the rankings.
