The Olympic champion of Paris in mixed doubles made it to the semi-finals of a Masters series event for the first time
Czech tennis player Tomas Machac won a sensational victory over the second racket of the world Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter finals of the tournament ATP Masters 1000 V Shanghai (China).
In the first set, the opponents strictly took back their serves, without making a single mistake. In the tiebreaker, the Czech managed to take a 4:2 lead and eventually defended the advantage by converting a set point on the second attempt – 7:5.
In the second game, everything was also as close as possible until the score was 5:5, when Makhach realized a break and eventually won the whole match.
For the 23-year-old Czech, this success became historic – for the first time in his career, he will play in the semi-finals of a Masters series tournament. Makhach’s next opponent is world number one Jannik Sinner.
Let us remind you that this summer Makhach became the Olympic champion in Paris in mixed doubles (in a duet with Katerina Sinyakova).
