“Nadal’s matches will be watched by millions of people” – Vikhlyantseva

Russian tennis player Natalia Vikhlyantseva noted that the games of the Spaniard Rafael Nadal will be watched by millions of fans.

On Thursday, Nadal, 38, announced his retirement. Nadal’s last tournament will be the Davis Cup Final Eight, which will take place in Malaga from November 19 to 24.

– Of course, it’s sad to hear that Rafael Nadal is retiring after the Davis Cup. I think many tennis fans, and even those who weren’t, knew that Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer had a great rivalry. I grew up watching these matches. It was sad when Federer retired. Now Nadal… It seems that everyone was preparing, everyone understood that he was about to end his career, but did not understand when. And today, of course, it’s sad.

We understand that a new generation is growing up. He even grew up somehow: Sinner and Alcaraz. Nadal is a great champion, fighter, king of clay, record holder and a wonderful person. I remember how I approached him to take a photo at Wimbledon in 2014. Then I played in the junior tournament and he played in the adult tournament. We watch his matches, we go see him for a photo, then we play with him in parallel tournaments: it’s nice to see when a legend and a great champion treats his people very well, the young champions, the juniors and all those present at the tournament.

You have to learn from his matches and his behavior. They will be reviewed by generations. Because Nadal is a tennis legend! He is a great champion. I’m just happy with how many victories he brought to himself, to his loved ones and to his fans,” Vikhlyantseva said in “Championship”.

Nadal is a 22-time Grand Slam winner and two-time Olympic champion. He is one of only four tennis players in history to have won every Grand Slam tournament at least twice.
