Djokovic on Masters final against Sinner: ‘It’s destiny to fight for the 100th title in China’

Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic said the final of the Masters Series tournament in Shanghai with Italian Jannik Sinner will be a special moment in his career, noting that the deciding match against the world number one will be a big test.

On Saturday, Djokovic beat American Taylor Fritz to reach the Masters final, where he will meet Sinner. The 37-year-old Serbian has 99 ATP titles to his credit.

– It’s a special moment. I feel like it’s my destiny to fight for my 100th title in China, a place where I’ve had a lot of success in the past and where I have a lot of support. The atmosphere was incredible, people supported me throughout the match. This only motivates me to try harder.

Yes, I am in a great position to win my 100th career title against the best player in the world. I won’t be the favorite, but I hope I can come out fresh enough to challenge him. It’s probably the most difficult match of the tournament, I have to be ready for it,” Djokovic said at a press conference.

The final will take place on Sunday. Djokovic and Sinner played seven confrontations, the score was 4-3 in favor of the Serb.
