The Ukrainian, who had previously successfully overcome two rounds of qualification, dramatically lost to a more status rival – American Nava
Ukrainian tennis player Alexey Krutykh failed to overcome the first round of the main draw at the tournament ATP Challenger Tour 125 V Olbia (Italy).
Our compatriot dramatically lost in three sets to the American Emilio Nava, who is 348 positions higher in the ATP rankings. The fight lasted two hours and 25 minutes.
The first game was an even fight. Krutykh served for the set at 5:4, but the opponent made a break. However, the ending remained with the Ukrainian – 7:5.
In the second game, Nava was able to rehabilitate himself; the sixth game on someone else’s serve was decisive for him. Finally, in the final set, Alexey regularly took the lead, even reaching the score 5:4, but after that the American managed to win three games in a row.
Earlier in Olbia, Krutykh successfully qualified, beating two more high-status opponents – German Christophe Negrita and Italian Andrea Picchione.
