In the 1/8 finals, Karatsev, who entered the main draw of the competition through qualifying, lost to the representative of Kazakhstan, Alexander Shevchenko, with a score of 1:6, 7:6 (7:5) , 5.:7. The meeting lasted 2 hours and 20 minutes.
Shevchenko will compete with Francisco Serundolo (Argentina, 4) to reach the semifinals of the tournament.
