World number one Swiatek to work with Azarenka, Halep and Osaka’s former coach

World number one polka Iga Swiętek announced the start of cooperation with Belgian coach Wim Fissette.

In early October, Szwiatek, 23, announced that she was ending her work with coach Tomasz Wiktorowski.

— I am happy to announce that Wim Fissette has joined my team. As you know, I am preparing for the WTA final tournament, but my plans are long term and not immediate. I have said many times that for me, my career is a marathon, not a sprint, and I work, act and make decisions with this approach in mind.

I would like to say that I am very excited and looking forward to working with Vim. He has excellent vision and extensive experience working at the highest level,” Szwiatek wrote on the social network.

Fissette has previously coached tennis players such as Kim Clijsters, Petra Kvitova, Simona Halep, Victoria Azarenka, Naomi Osaka and Zheng Qingwen.

Swiatek has won Roland Garros four times and also won the US Open. This summer, she won bronze at the Paris Olympic Games.
