American tennis player Danielle Collins admitted she changed her mind about retiring this season.
Collins, 30, announced in January that she would retire at the end of the season. The American is ranked ninth in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings.
“Although I would have been very happy to end my tennis career on a high note this year and dive headfirst into the next chapter of my life, things did not go as planned.
Over the past few months, I have not only had to deal with some health issues, but I have also consulted with specialists to better understand the best path to follow to realize my ultimate dream of starting a family.
Battling endometriosis and infertility is a huge challenge for many women, and one I am actively working to overcome. I have complete confidence in the team I work with. It’s just going to take longer than I thought.
So my story is not over. I will be back on tour in 2025.
While there are no guarantees in life, I hope to build on my 2024 momentum and keep playing until there is more certainty on my path to having a baby.” , Collins wrote on social media.
During her career, the tennis player has won five WTA tournaments (including four singles) and also reached the final of the 2022 Australian Open.
