The press release states that the Russian athlete will miss the tournament due to a hip injury.
Previously, the Spaniard Paula Badosa, who announced the early end of the season due to health problems, refused to participate in the tournament.
The current champion of the Tokyo tournament is Veronika Kudermetova. In last year’s final, she defeated American tennis player Jessica Pegula – 7: 5, 6: 1.
The WTA 500 tournament in Tokyo will take place from October 21 to 27.
