The Japanese woman withdrew from the home tournament in Tokyo and will not be able to take part in the final of the Billie Jean King Cup
Japanese tennis player Naomi Osaka ended the season early due to a back injury.
In early October, Naomi did not finish her fourth round match at the WTA 1000 tournament in Beijing. The athlete said that the examination showed that she had a bulging intervertebral disc, as well as a ruptured abdominal muscle. Osaka has withdrawn from her home WTA 500 event in Tokyo and will not be able to compete in the Billie Jean King Cup final.
This season, Osaka’s best achievement was the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000 tournament in Doha in February. At Grand Slam tournaments, the Japanese woman did not go beyond the second round in 2024. Naomi is ranked 56th in the WTA world rankings.
The Billie Jean King Cup final will take place from 13 to 20 November in Malaga. Japan will meet the Romanian team in the quarter-final match.
