Ex-forward Atlético, Manchester United And Uruguay national team player Diego Forlan makes his professional tennis debut at the age of 45.

Forlan showed up for the challenge in his native Montevideo, which will take place from November 11 to 17. The Uruguayan will play in doubles, and his partner will be the famous Argentine tennis player Federico Coria, whose best achievement in the ATP ranking was 49th position.

In his childhood, Forlan combined tennis with football, and more recently Forlan took part in ITF veteran tournaments. In June of this year, the Uruguayan reached the quarter finals of the tournament in Peru.

Diego Forlan ended his professional football career in 2018. His last club was Kitchi from Hong Kong.

Throughout his playing career, Forlán played for Manchester United, Villarreal, Atlético Madrid, Inter, Penarol, and as part of the Uruguay national team, Diego played 112 matches and scored 36 goals. Together with La Celeste, Forlan took 4th place at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa (and was recognized as the best player of that World Cup), and also won the Copa America in 2011.

After completing his playing career, Forlán tried himself as a coach, heading his native Peñarol and Atenas for a short time.
