Yanchuk on Sharapova’s entry into the Hall of Fame: ‘It’s about time, I’m surprised she’s not in there yet’

Honored Russia coach Viktor Yanchuk told that Maria Sharapova has long deserved inclusion in the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

On Thursday, it was announced that Sharapova would be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Americans Bob and Mike Bryan will join her.

“It’s about time, I’m surprised she’s not here yet.” Maria is a brilliant tennis player with a combative character. She competed successfully with Serena Williams for a long time. Sharapova is technically an almost perfect tennis player. She has excellent tennis qualities and external data. She is harmonious, beautiful and radical,” Yanchuk told .

Sharapova is a former world number one and winner of five Grand Slams and 36 WTA singles tournaments. She announced her retirement from her sporting career in February 2020.

The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place in Newport, Rhode Island, United States, August 21-23, 2025.
