Maria Sharapova to be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame

Former Russian world number one Maria Sharapova will be included in the International Tennis Hall of Fame, according to the organization’s website.

Americans Bob and Mike Bryan will also be inducted into the Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place in Newport, Rhode Island, United States, August 21-23, 2025.

“I am honored to welcome Maria Sharapova and Bob and Mike Bryan as members of the 2025 International Tennis Hall of Fame.

In addition to their historic achievements on the court, the Class of 2025 has had a profound impact on tennis and inspired generations of fans around the world. We look forward to honoring them in Newport next year,” said Kim Clijsters, President of the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

Sharapova will become the third Russian representative to the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Previously, Marat Safin and Yevgeny Kafelnikov received this honor.

Sharapova is a former world number one and winner of five Grand Slams and 36 WTA singles tournaments. She announced her retirement from her sporting career in February 2020.
