Russian tennis player Diane Schneider said that the main events of 2024 for her are reaching the fourth round of the US Open, as well as performances at the Bad Homburg tournament and the Paris Olympics.
During the 2024 season, Schneider won three WTA tournaments – in Budapest, Bad Homburg and Hua Hin, and together with Mirra Andreeva – silver at the Olympic Games. Also at the US Open, Schneider reached the fourth round of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time in his career.
— I think the whole season was wonderful. If I had to choose, I would highlight three main points. First of all, I’m really proud of my week in Bad Homburg. I didn’t expect to be this good on grass, so it was a surprise for me. It was a great tournament where I beat great opponents.
Still qualified for the second week of the Grand Slam at the US Open. I worked hard to achieve this and I am proud that I was able to do it so quickly. And the third point is a trip to the Olympics. It was a big goal and I am very happy to have had this opportunity. Having an Olympic medal at home is incredible.
I know I can do better. Let’s see what happens next year. I feel: I need more time to anchor this idea in my head – yes, I deserve it, my game is in the top 15. This year has been crazy, everything happened very quickly, there is had a lot of tournaments. It takes me time to understand that this is where I belong.
I want to get to the Grand Slam and be No. 1, my main goal is to find my own game that I am confident in on all surfaces and that I enjoy playing. “I want it to be stable throughout the year,” Schneider told the official website of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA).
On Tuesday, Schneider, 20, reached the second round of the WTA 250 tournament in Hong Kong. She will face Australian Priscilla Hong in the second round. The Russian currently occupies 14th place in the world rankings.
