The rivals played on the WTA Tour for the third time in their careers, with Schneider beating Fernandez for the first time.
The Russian will compete with Katie Boulter (USA, 2) for victory in the tournament. For Schneider, the next final will be the fourth singles final of the season; she won all the previous ones.
