None of the representatives of the so-called Big Three, of which the Serbian is a member, Novak Djokovic Spanish Rafael Nadal and the Swiss Roger Federer will not participate in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) final tournament for the first time since 2001.
The final of the 2024 ATP tournament will be held from November 10 to 17 in Turin. It will feature Italian Jannik Sinner, Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, German Alexander Zverev, Russians Daniil Medvedev and Andrei Rublev, American Taylor Fritz, Norwegian Casper Ruud and Australian Alex de Minaur.
Ranking points accumulated in 2024 allowed Djokovic to qualify for the tournament, but on Tuesday the Serbian announced he had decided to end the season prematurely due to injury. Nadal announced that he would retire this season at the end of the Davis Cup final. Federer played his last career match in 2022.
The Swiss won the first ATP tournament of his career in February 2001, but failed to qualify for the final tournament. At the same time, Federer won these competitions six times, Djokovic seven times. Nadal has never won the final tournament. Among the Russians, Nikolai Davydenko (2009) and Medvedev (2020) won the main trophy.
After Djokovic’s withdrawal, Medvedev became the oldest participant in the 2024 final tournament. Russia’s first racket is 28 years and 9 months old.
