Representative of the Czech Republic Barbora Krejcikova defeated American Cori Gauff in the group stage match of the WTA final tournament.
The rivals spent 1 hour and 43 minutes on the field, the Czech beat Gauff in two sets – 7:5, 6:4.
Krejcikova earned her second tournament victory and qualified for the playoffs. Gauff had previously also secured a place in the semi-finals.
Earlier, Polish tennis player Iga Szwiatek defeated Russian Daria Kasatkina, but the match did not matter for the tournament. The Pole could only reach the semi-finals if Krejcikova loses to Gauff.
