Zheng Qingwen beats Krejcikova to become the first finalist of the WTA Finals

The Chinese woman became the youngest debutant finalist in 13 years and the second representative of her country in the final in history

Chinese tennis player Zheng Qingwen in the first semi-final Final WTA tournamentwhich takes place in Saudi Arabia Riyadhwon in two sets over Barbora Krejcikova from the Czech Republic.

The fight lasted one hour and 41 minutes. In the first game, the Chinese woman started strongly, with a score of 3:0, and her opponent was unable to win back this handicap. Zheng missed a double set point when the score was 5:2, but immediately after that she took hers.

The second set turned out to be more stubborn. Krejcikova initially also lost 0:3, but was able to come back, converted two breaks and even led 5:4. However, this was the last success for the Czech. Qingwen converted the match point on her second attempt and became the youngest Finals tournament debutant to reach the final since 2011. She also became the second ever Chinese finalist after Li Na (2013).

The Chinese woman’s opponent will be determined today in the confrontation between the “neutral” Aryna Sabalenka and the American Coco Gauff.
