A famous football player picked up a tennis racket
Ex-forward Atlético, Manchester United And Uruguay national team player Diego Forlan made his debut in professional tennis.
The 45-year-old Uruguayan performed with Argentinean Federico Coria at Challenger in Montevideo in doubles. Their tandem received a wildcard.
The start of his professional tennis career was unsuccessful for Forlan. In the first round, his pairing with Coria lost to the tandem from Bolivia – Boris Arias / Federico Ceballos.
The meeting lasted 49 minutes. During this time, Forlan and Coria took only three games in two games – 1:6, 2:6.
In his childhood, Forlan combined tennis with football, and more recently Forlan took part in ITF veteran tournaments. In June of this year, the Uruguayan reached the quarter finals of the tournament in Peru.
