The former first racket of Ukraine is recovering from surgery, which she underwent in mid-September
Former first racket of Ukraine Elina Svitolina shared her plans for the near future, and also talked about her recovery after surgery and plans to return to the court.
“I’m in Europe now, but in a few days I’m going to Dallas to join the Ukrainian national team. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to play this time because I had surgery a month and a half ago. Feeling pain for an entire year was not an ideal situation. Without surgery, even if I were an ordinary person and it was just about running with my daughter, I would have been in a lot of pain. Therefore, after all the discussions, examinations and thoughts, I decided to go for the operation. I’m currently in the process of rehabilitation, hopefully I can start my season in Australia. I’m looking forward to getting back on the court.”
“So I will only be in McKinney as a support for our girls. I hope that we can win this match and advance further, we can compete in the qualifications, because I think that we have a really good team. Yes, I hope we have this chance. I encourage everyone to come and support our team. This will be a very difficult match and I hope the audience will root for us. When there is support in the stands, it motivates the players to be the best version of themselves.”
Let us remind you that the confrontation between Ukraine and Austria in the playoffs of the Billie Jean King Cup will take place on November 16 and 17. The matches will take place on the hard surface of The Courts in McKinney, Texas, USA. The winner of this meeting will qualify to compete in the 2025 World Finals qualification.
Elina Svitolina underwent surgery in mid-September and ended the current season. The Ukrainian reported that surgical intervention was supposed to correct the problem, due to which the tennis player ended the 2023 season ahead of schedule. According to Elina, recovery is going according to plan, and from November she was going to gradually begin training on the court.
In the latest edition of the WTA rankings, Svitolina rose by four positions and now ranks 23rd, five places lower than the strongest Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk.
Australian Open 2025 will traditionally be the first major of the year. It will take place (in the main draw) from January 12 to 26. In the past year, Svitolina reached the 1/8 finals in Melbourne.
