The fourth semi-finalist will be determined today in the confrontation between Ruud and Rublev
German tennis player Alexander Zverev triumphantly completed the group stage ATP 2024 Final Tournamentbeating the Spaniard in two sets Carlos Alcaraz.
The fight lasted almost two hours. In the opening set, the opponents steadily took back their serve, but Zverev did it more confidently – five times he was close to a break point, but did not convert a single attempt. and yet in the tiebreaker Alexander prevailed – 7:5.
Zverev started the second game by winning a game on someone else’s serve – this handicap was ultimately enough for him to win the set and the whole match.
The German representative won three matches in a row, without losing a single set to his opponents at the tournament. Alcaraz, who previously sensationally lost to the Norwegian Casper Ruud and then prevailed over the “neutral” Andrey Rublev, retains only theoretical chances for the playoffs.
Zverev became the third semi-finalist of the event, joining group winners Ilie Nastase Jannik Sinner and Taylor Fritz. The fate of the last ticket to the playoffs will be determined today based on the results of the confrontation between Ruud and Rublev.
