World number three, Spanish Carlos Alcaraz after announcing his retirement Rafael Nadal recounted what he had learned from his titled compatriot.
“First of all, the passion for tennis. He played and experienced this Davis Cup with passion. I was lucky that he was nearby, that I played with him. It’s a shame we didn’t play together longer,” Alcaraz said at a press conference.
Today, winner of 22 Grand Slam trophies and one career Golden Slam, Spaniard Rafael Nadal officially confirmed his retirement. He did so after Spain’s Davis Cup quarter-final defeat to the Netherlands (1:2).
Carlos Alcaraz won the singles match in this series, but was defeated in the deciding doubles match with Marcel Granollers.
