Russian tennis player Elena Vesnin confirmed reports that she was retiring from her career.
Previously, Vesnina was listed in the “inactive athletes” section of the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) website.

At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Vesnina won the doubles tournament with Ekaterina Makarova. At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Vesnina and Aslan Karatsev won silver medals in mixed doubles.
