“It was a childhood trauma.” Tennis player Pridankina explained why she didn’t like reading at school

Russian tennis player Elena Pridankina talked about her hobby and her attitude towards reading.

— I draw from time to time: sometimes alone, sometimes with the help of tutorials, sometimes with the help of coloring books. I do this to relax. I also fill out journals, I like to write for myself.

I had a trauma in my childhood: in the second and third grades I read Tajik and Kyrgyz fairy tales, so for a long time I did not like reading. A year and a half ago I started doing this and fell in love with detective novels. Now I like what Alexandra Marinina writes.

Why did this happen to fairy tales at school? There is such a program in Moscow, which focuses on languages. “I studied English and French,” Pridankina was quoted as saying in “Championship.”

Pridankina is 19 years old and ranked 176th in the WTA world rankings.
