In the 1/16 match, Medvedev beat Dutchman Botik van de Zandshulp with the score 6:4, 7:5. In 1h35 of play, Daniil scored 7 aces, 4 double faults and 3 break points made out of 9. Van de Zandshulp scored 4 aces, 11 double faults, 1 break point made out of 3.

In the 1/8 finals, Medvedev will meet the winner of the pair Denis Shapovalov (Canada) – Tommy Paul (USA). In case of reaching the quarter-finals of the Cincinnati Masters, the Russian will retain his leadership in the world ranking of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP).
