Fernando Vicente, coach of world number eight Andrei Rublev said the Russian visited a psychologist three times a week after the Wimbledon tournament.
In 2024, Rublev failed to reach the second round of Wimbledon, losing to Argentine Francisco Comesaña – 4:6, 7:5, 2:6, 6:7 (5:7).
— Andrey said he was depressed after Wimbledon.
– Yes, very deeply. We tried to be close to him, to support him, three times a week we went to a psychologist, where the conversation was about Rublev remembering where he was, when it all started and how far he managed to reach. This is a normal situation. As a coach, I also face many problems throughout the year: family, children, other problems. But in the end, we finished the year in a good position and we look forward to the next season with high hopes,” Vicente said as quoted by “Championship”.
