Selivanenko on Nadal loss: ‘I can’t say it’s some kind of sensation’

Vice President of the Russian Tennis Federation (RTF) Alexei Selivanenko believes that the defeat of Rafael Nadal at the Masters Series tournament in Cincinnati (USA) is not surprising, because there are no weak players in the men’s circuit.

The Spaniard in the second round of the tournament lost to Croatian Borne Coric – 6:7 (9:11), 6:4, 3:6.

– Rafa had quite a long break due to his injury. I can’t say it’s some kind of Coric feeling – he’s been around for a long time and is considered one of the strong players. Another thing is that he doesn’t have any brilliant wins.

But I can’t say it’s some kind of sensation. There are no weak players on the circuit. Anyone can beat anyone. One can have a good day, the other can have a bad day. Rafa knows what to do. It’s not a super surprising result,” Selivanenko told the “Championship”.

Previously, the multiple Grand Slam winner missed the Montreal Masters due to health issues. In early July, Nadal ended the fight at Wimbledon earlier than expected due to an abdominal muscle injury.
