‘I wasn’t ready to win’ – Nadal on first leg defeat after injury

Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal commented on Croatian Borna Coric’s second-round defeat of the Masters Series tournament in Cincinnati.

The Spaniard was beaten in three games – 6:7 (9), 6:4, 3:6.

– Of course, I wanted to win the first game after such a long break, but I accept this defeat. I need to get in shape. It’s a historically difficult tournament for me. The most important thing was to stay healthy. The last month and a half has been difficult, because I had a very difficult injury. I would also like to mention my opponent, who has come a long way with injuries and beaten me before, he is strong. I was not ready to win. I need practice,” Nadal told a press conference.

Previously, the Spaniard withdrew from the Montreal Masters due to health issues. In early July, Nadal ended the fight at Wimbledon earlier than expected due to an abdominal muscle injury. The match with Coric was the Spaniard’s first after recovering from injury.
