Ukrainian-Latvian couple played two matches in a row in a few hours
Ukrainian tennis player Lyudmila Kichenok advanced to the doubles final WTA in Cincinnati. The Ukrainian paired with the Latvian tennis player Elena Ostapenko beat their rivals twice in a short period of time in the quarterfinals and semifinals of the American “thousander”.
In the 1/4 finals, Kichenok and Ostapenko coped with the duet Anna Danilina (Kazakhstan) / Beatriz Addad Maya (Brazil). The match lasted a little less than an hour and a half. The Ukrainian and the Latvian won the first set, lost in the second, and snatched victory in the decisive game.
More than three hours after the first match, Kichenok and Ostapenko have already reached the semifinal match with the first seeds of the tournament, Veronika Kudermetova and Eliza Mertens. The Ukrainian-Latvian couple lost the first set, also lost in the second, but managed to turn the tide of the match and win.
In the final, Kichenok and Ostapenko will play against the duo Nicole Melikar (USA) / Ellen Perez (Australia). Note that this season the couples have already met each other at the tournament in Madrid. The victory that day was for Kichenok and Ostapenko.
