Lyudmila Kichenok paired with Ostapenko won the tournament in Cincinnati

The second title of the season for the Ukrainian-Latvian duet

Ukrainian tennis player Lyudmila Kichenok became winner doubles tournament WTA 1000 in Cincinnati. Ukrainian together with Latvian Elena Ostapenko defeated the duet Nicole Melikar (USA) / Ellen Perez (Australia) in straight sets.

The match lasted a little less than an hour and a half. The first set was a tough fight. Kichenok and Ostapenko played two set points on other people’s innings and were able to snatch victory in a tie-break.

In the second set, the opponents took their serves for some time. Melikar and Perez were the first to make a mistake, missed the game, and then lost the match.

For Lyudmila Kichenok and Ostapenko this is the second joint title this year. In June, the Ukrainian-Latvian duet won the grass tournament in Birmingham.

Recall that during the tournament, a Ukrainian and a Latvian defeated the tandem of Kirsten Flipkens (Belgium) and Sarah Sorribes-Tormo (Spain) in the first round. Then, in the second round, a pair of Lucija Gradecka (Czech Republic) / Sania Mirza (India) passed.

In the quarterfinals, the girls coped with the duet Anna Danilina (Kazakhstan) / Beatriz Addad Maya (Brazil). And in the semifinals, they beat the first seeded of the tournament Veronika Kudermetova and Eliza Mertens.
