Beat Petra Kvitova in the final
Frenchwoman Carolyn Garcia became the winner of the WTA 1000 tournament in Cincinnati. In the final, she defeated Petru Kvitov from the Czech Republic.
Garcia became the first “qualifier” to win the title at the WTA 1000 tournament. In Cincinnati, the Frenchwoman started from the first qualifying round and scored eight victories in the tournament, beating three top 10 tennis players.
This is Garcia’s 3rd title of the season, 10th of his career and 3rd in the WTA 1000 tournaments. Garcia will return to the top 20 this week, moving up to 17th.
Recall that Ukrainian tennis player Lyudmila Kichenok, together with Latvian Elena Ostapenko, became the winner of the doubles tournament WTA 1000 in Cincinnati.
