The German was unable to recover from an ankle injury at Roland Garros
Second racket of the world Alexander Zverev refused to participate in the upcoming US Open.
The 25-year-old German suffered an ankle injury during the Roland Garros semi-final match with Rafael Nadal. Zverev was diagnosed with a rupture of three lateral ligaments, after which the player underwent surgery.
From that moment on, Alexander no longer entered the court, missing, among other things, the third Wimbledon Grand Slam tournament. Until the last moment, the US Open-2020 finalist hoped to play in the American Grand Slam tournament.
The US Open will take place from August 29 to September 11. Daniil Medvedev is the current US Open champion.
