The world’s second racket Zverev has officially withdrawn from the US Open

German tennis player Alexander Zverev will miss the US Open, according to the tournament’s official website.

The second number in the ATP rankings was injured in the Roland Garros semi-final with Spaniard Rafael Nadal and left the field in a wheelchair. A few days later, Zverev underwent surgery due to a rupture of three lateral ligaments in his right ankle. In August, he resumed training.

Instead of Zverev, American Stefan Kozlov will perform at the US Open.

Last year, 25-year-old Zverev reached the semi-finals of the US Open, where he lost to Serbian Novak Djokovic. The current winner of the tournament is Russian Daniil Medvedev, who sits first in the ATP rankings.

The US Open will take place from August 29 to September 11.
