The incident took place at a tennis tournament in Cincinnati.
Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA Oksana Markarova commented on the recent scandalous incident with a fan who was asked to remove Ukrainian flag at the Russian women’s tennis match in American Cincinnati.
“I am shocked that someone was forcibly removed from a sporting event because of a flag. The fact that it was the flag of Ukraine and the applicant was a Russian player is doubly appalling. That this happened in the US is simply shocking.”
Recall that the incident happened at the WTA 1000 tennis tournament in Cincinnati, USA. Then a fan with the Ukrainian flag was forced to leave the stands during the match between Russians Anna Kalinskaya and Anastasia Potapova.
